Thank you for your interest in Special Olympics Team Plano – we can certainly use your help! Volunteers are the backbone of this team; so on behalf of the athletes, thank you for your interest and commitment. We have volunteers who work with Special Olympics athletes throughout the year, and others who help out occasionally.
What does a volunteer do?
You name it, you do it! Plano Special Olympics Team is a volunteer-driven team, which means that we need volunteers for just about everything. Volunteers can assist at events, coach athletes, help with fundraising, coordinate events, serve on committees and so much more!
Who can volunteer?
Individuals, groups, families… anyone can volunteer! Volunteers ages 14 and younger are welcome but must be accompanied by a parent or adult volunteer.
We have two types of volunteers:
Class A – These are typically coaches, assistant coaches, unified partners, or others that volunteer for an entire sports season (8-10 weeks). They have close physical contact with athletes on a regular basis or are in a position of authority, supervision and trust with athletes and the team.
Class B – A short-term opportunity providing assistance and support at a competition or social event.
These are volunteers that come to one (or a few) practices or vents.
How do I sign up?
